Hello!
Today’s post is a quick one. I will be attending a webinar and a larger conference in the next week that are very exciting in the world of Fire and EMS behavioral health.
Presented by Lexipol, this webinar on homelessness issues and the response from the 911 system should be full of great insights and hopefully good examples of various models being piloted or just plain implemented by departments across the country:

Homelessness and non-life threatening EMS calls are huge in operations right now and most departments are feeling the strain. Some are starting to get ahead of the issue in creative ways. More to come!
Arizona State University will be hosting the 20th Annual Summer Institute! Presented by the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy. Almost a full week of content for behavioral health, public health, public safety and public policy folks. Content spans from the justice system and sex trafficking to the opioid epidemic and ACES (adverse childhood experiences). The focus is on AZ specifically, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find some parallels that can work in other states.

This is sure to be full of excellent and useful information. I’ll most definitely follow up on the highlights!
Final thoughts: Every professional in every industry benefits from continuing education, in turn their customers benefit too! CEs can often be quite an investment so I look for a few things when registering:
- will this directly help my clinical practice with clients?
- will this lead to personal growth?
- can I use any of this information for my consultation clients and projects?
- is the hosting entity credible?
- is this a networking opportunity?
- can I give the time commitment?
- will I be able to apply CEs to my license?
An event doesn’t have to check all of the boxes, but the more the better when it comes to choosing where to spend time and money.
Can’t wait to share about these events.
